Concrete counter tops no longer just got for people who want an "Industrial feel"

Hey Everyone! In the past when people asked for concrete counter tops a very distinct image comes to mind. you think of long cold dark grey slabs that have a heavy industrial feel to them. Range Hoods

Hey all its Maggs again!

Did you know that we don't just offer stone cast mantles? We also offer many different products as well. One that I have been looking at a lot today has been our stone cast range hoods. All of our range hoods are custom orders so you end up with a unique one of a kind range hood even if you use one of our other installations as a pattern!

Do you like the idea of a stone cast range hood but don't know where to start? Why not come down to our showroom and we will show you examples of other custom range hoods we have created and installed for other customers! Or you can look at different range hoods designs online and bring some pictures of your favorites. When you do come to our showroom there are some things we will need to get started on your project. So if you bring the rough measurements for where you want your range hood to go, and the size of the fan you will have installed we can start the design process right away.

At our showroom you will be able to see samples of colors and really give us an idea of what you are looking for. After your visit we will come out and give you a complementary measure to get the final measurements for where you want your range to be installed. Once we have those measurements we will email you a mock up for your custom range hood for approval. That is all it takes! So come down to the showroom today and we will be happy to show you around and get your next fun project started.

An Introduction

Hello Everyone! My name is Maggs, I am new at Stone Mountain Castings and Design. I joined the team this last week and I will be taking over the blog, so I figured that I would introduce myself. I moved to Utah from Southeastern Washington state in August and have been loving all of the fun adventures I have had since.

I am super excited to be joining the team over here, and can hardly wait to share all of the things I learn about stone casting. For instance Did you know that our products are made from glass fiber reinforced concrete or GFRC for short? This material is very durable and is heat and flame resistant meaning that is you use it for a mantel over your fireplace it will not catch fire if you have an accident. It also wont warp in high heat, this makes it perfect for outdoor fireplaces or even fire pits. Our products are also hollow this makes them far lighter than solid stone mantles. They are just as durable as solid stone as well. Again making them perfect for outdoor accents to your home like corbels, columns, or arches for doorways and windows.

To see more of the products we manufacturer visit our website http://stonemountaincastings.com/ or come down to our show room, we would be more than happy to show you any of our products.

One of the biggest question is asked: does our material feature well with wood and does it last long outdoors? Answer: It compliments wood so beautifully! It also is made to last and not wither away form rain and the sun, it lasts through the season! Reason for that is our fiber glass which makes our material so strong! We want our customers happy with their projects and the beauty it brings to their home!

Decorate that Mantel!

Do you have a bare mantel? Or just a mantel that looks over crowded or skeletal with decorations? Here are some tips for decorating that mantel.

     Tips

1. Make sure there is an anchor this will be your biggest decor that belongs on your mantel whether it is a mirror, picture slab of wood etc.
2. If that centerpiece is in the middle you will want to even out the weight with medium objects on either side. They do not have to be identical just close in size.
If the centerpiece is off the one side you will want one to two medium size objects and optional small object, two on the opposite side of the centerpiece and if you have three the one on the other side, I would suggest making that one smaller than the others to avoid overcrowding.  For medium items if you can stack them like books I would suggest two or three books high depending on how big your mantel is in comparison to your ceiling.
3. You will find that if you stop at number 2 you might find your mantel skeletal. You need to add filler in between the objects these are small items, plants pictures etc.
Stick with horizontal lines when you add fillers, the bigger items are your vertical lines.
