Utah Valley Parade Of Homes

One of the biggest question is asked: does our material feature well with wood and does it last long outdoors? Answer: It compliments wood so beautifully! It also is made to last and not wither away form rain and the sun, it lasts through the season! Reason for that is our fiber glass which makes our material so strong! We want our customers happy with their projects and the beauty it brings to their home!

Decorate that Mantel!

Do you have a bare mantel? Or just a mantel that looks over crowded or skeletal with decorations? Here are some tips for decorating that mantel.

     Tips

1. Make sure there is an anchor this will be your biggest decor that belongs on your mantel whether it is a mirror, picture slab of wood etc.
2. If that centerpiece is in the middle you will want to even out the weight with medium objects on either side. They do not have to be identical just close in size.
If the centerpiece is off the one side you will want one to two medium size objects and optional small object, two on the opposite side of the centerpiece and if you have three the one on the other side, I would suggest making that one smaller than the others to avoid overcrowding.  For medium items if you can stack them like books I would suggest two or three books high depending on how big your mantel is in comparison to your ceiling.
3. You will find that if you stop at number 2 you might find your mantel skeletal. You need to add filler in between the objects these are small items, plants pictures etc.
Stick with horizontal lines when you add fillers, the bigger items are your vertical lines.

Give a Treasure this Year!

November is a great time to be grateful for so many things. But it is so hard to be grateful for the chaos that seems to explode during this time of year. People get anxious about giving gifts, they run the numbers and they find they do not have enough for that huge boat they wanted. Some people get depressed because of all the gifts they think they have to buy. Through this craziness we forget to continue to be grateful for the ones we love and those who make our lives better. Why not make the holidays be a reason for people to enjoy a little more toastier toes and a fun family side tv watching around a fireplace.

Now I am not suggesting to get a fireplace for a friend, relative or even your mom! I am suggesting that you treat yourself to a small upgrade to bring people closer together! It is shown on so many tv shows that families sit around the fireplace telling stories or just talking, in the modern family we have tv and people like to cuddle up to a comfy couch and a movie with friends and family. Some times all we need is family during the holidays and not presents.
Lets face it sometimes our lives are like this fireplace above the brick is showing dirt it dated and it is an eye sore. We are so slumped into giving things that we cannot afford or stressing about if the present you got "Aunt Sally" will be what she likes or if she will be offended because you got a generic brand instead of name brand. If we remodel how we look at the holidays and consider family time as a gift there is no price tage no name brand just good old fashion time with a timeless twist.
The secret is you are giving but it is a better gift than thing. As the Grinch said: "that is what it is all about isn't it? Gifts? Gifts. gifts. gifts gifts." and like his point we grow out of things and we throw them away.
There has not been one family time that I have had that has been throw away in my life. I have a huge family and every moment with them is the best and it is a treasure not a thing. Give a treasure this year get a reason to gather!

Some thing New!

Have you ever looked at your space and just thought "man I need a space makeover". I have this problem at my house where I just love to rearrange and reorganize and re model my house every so often. My husband would tell you that I remodel every week, but in actuality it is maybe once a month. I enjoy seeing my stuff in new ways and my furniture in new light. Our project right now is painting our table. After a full time job and full time school we some how manage to get little projects done in day this one has taken 4 months. We are now in the final stages we are painting.
We live in a townhouse that does not have a fireplace. Seeing all the beauties that people come up with and the space changing in new light by just one Precast makes me want to remodel a mantel into my home. I know that if I needed that done I would be taken care of because Stone Mountain Castings has outlets that can help me get the project started. They recommend Stone Connections and Hearth and Homes and in turn they recommend Stone Mountain Castings to do your mantel. It is amazing the network of hard workers that this circle has. They all work together to get you the best price and the best quality. Let us look in new light everyday!
Original Above, this should look like a bigger area but it looks small.
New Light! Surprisingly the space looks larger with the mantel!

Over Mantels

Over mantels were use in the 1912 as a backdrop of for a mirror or other decoration above fireplaces. It was said to have been hand carved in the French influence particularly the Louis XV period (Wood Craft: A Journal of Woodworking, Volume 17; google search). Today with the influence of Louis XV seen in over mantels Stone Mountain Castings has carried that tradition of hand carved into precast, more sturdy, more reliable to weather, and more possible to match any and every house. From modern to classic customers have mounted televisions, mirrors, decorations. pictures framed their window as the over mantel. With so many options at incredible prices why not bring a center piece into your house?
